Manuscripts considered suitable for peer review are evaluated through a double-blind peer-review process, in which the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from each other.
Each research manuscript is evaluated by at least two independent reviewers with appropriate expertise in the subject of the manuscript.
The peer-review process normally includes:
-
Initial editorial screening;
-
Plagiarism and research-integrity checks;
-
Assignment of the manuscript to an appropriate editor;
-
Double-blind review by at least two independent reviewers;
-
Evaluation of reviewer comments by the editor;
-
Author revision when required;
-
Further review when necessary; and
-
Final editorial decision.
The final decision to accept or reject a manuscript is made by the responsible editor based on the quality, originality, relevance, methodological soundness, and reviewer recommendations.
Editors and reviewers are required to disclose and manage any potential conflict of interest.
