Author Guidelines & Submission

The International Journal of Industrial Engineering and Operational Research (IJIEOR) welcomes original and high-quality scholarly contributions in industrial engineering, operations research, logistics, supply and operations management, optimization, and related fields.

1. Types of Articles

IJIEOR considers the following types of manuscripts:

1. Research Articles – original theoretical, methodological, computational, or applied research.
2. Review Articles – comprehensive and critical reviews of important topics within the journal's scope.
3. Special Articles – substantial scholarly contributions addressing important developments in the field.
4. Case Reports / Case Studies – relevant applications and practical studies with sufficient scientific contribution.
5. Letters to the Editor – concise scientific communications or comments of general significance.

Review and special articles may be considered particularly from researchers with substantial expertise and publication experience in the relevant field.

2. Originality and Exclusive Submission

Manuscripts submitted to IJIEOR must be original and must not have been previously published, in whole or in substantial part, in another publication.

A manuscript submitted to IJIEOR must not simultaneously be under consideration by another journal or publication venue.

Authors must disclose any relevant information concerning previous dissemination, related manuscripts, conference versions, preprints, or overlapping publications where applicable.

3. Manuscript Template

All manuscripts should be prepared according to the official IJIEOR manuscript format.

4. Manuscript Preparation

4.1 Page Size and Margins

• Paper size: A4
• Top margin: 2.54 cm
• Bottom margin: 2.54 cm
• Left margin: 2.54 cm
• Right margin: 2.54 cm

4.2 Font and Spacing

• Main text: Times New Roman, 12 pt
• Abstract and Keywords: Times New Roman, 11 pt
• Article title: Times New Roman, 16 pt
• References: Times New Roman, 11 pt
• Table and figure captions: Times New Roman, 10 pt
• Main manuscript text: Double-spaced

4.3 Paragraphs

Paragraphs should be consistently formatted throughout the manuscript. The first paragraph of each section should not require additional indentation, while subsequent paragraphs should follow the formatting specified in the official IJIEOR template.

5. Manuscript Length

The maximum recommended length of a manuscript is 10,000 words, including the main text and excluding references where appropriate. Authors should keep manuscripts concise and focused on the research contribution.

Manuscripts substantially exceeding the recommended length may be returned to the authors for revision before entering the external peer-review process.

6. Title, Abstract and Keywords

6.1 Title

The title should be concise, informative, and accurately reflect the main subject and contribution of the manuscript. The title should normally be prepared using 16-point Times New Roman.

6.2 Abstract

The abstract should contain approximately 100–200 words and should be written as a single coherent paragraph.

The abstract should briefly communicate:

• the research problem or objective;
• the methodology or approach;
• the principal findings; and
• the main contribution or implications.

The abstract should not contain unnecessary references, unexplained abbreviations, or detailed mathematical notation.

6.3 Keywords

Authors should provide a maximum of 6 keywords. Keywords should accurately represent the main concepts, methods, applications, and research areas of the manuscript.

7. Recommended Manuscript Structure

Manuscripts should be clearly organized. Depending on the nature of the research, the following structure is recommended:

1. Introduction
2. Literature Review / Background, where appropriate
3. Materials and Methods / Methodology
4. Model Development / Proposed Method, where applicable
5. Results
6. Discussion
7. Conclusion
8. Implications and Future Research, where appropriate
9. Acknowledgments, if applicable
10. Appendices, if applicable
11. References

7.1 Introduction

The introduction should clearly establish the research problem, motivation, objectives, scientific importance, relevant literature, research gap, and the principal contribution or novelty of the study.

7.2 Materials and Methods / Methodology

The methodology should provide sufficient information to enable qualified researchers to understand and, where appropriate, reproduce the research.

7.3 Results and Discussion

Results should be presented clearly and accurately. The discussion should interpret the findings in relation to the research questions, relevant literature, and the contribution of the study.

7.4 Conclusion

The conclusion should summarize the principal findings and contributions. Authors are encouraged to explain the implications, limitations, and possible directions for future research.

8. Numbered Sections

Manuscripts should use clearly defined and consistently numbered sections and subsections. For example:

• 1. Introduction
• 2. Literature Review
• 2.1 Previous Studies
• 2.1.1 Research Gap
• 3. Methodology

The official IJIEOR manuscript template should be used for detailed heading styles.

9. Mathematical Notation and Equations

Mathematical symbols and variables should be presented consistently throughout the manuscript. Mathematical notations should normally be italicized where appropriate.

All equations explicitly referred to in the text should be numbered sequentially. Authors may use Microsoft Word Equation Editor or MathType to prepare equations.

Equations should be clearly readable and consistently formatted. Symbols, sets, indices, parameters, and variables should be defined before or immediately after their use.

10. Tables and Figures

Tables and figures should be placed within the manuscript close to the point where they are first discussed.

• Tables and figures should be numbered consecutively.
• Each table and figure must be explicitly referred to in the text.
• Table titles/captions should be placed above the table.
• Figure captions should be placed below the figure.
• Tables and figures should be centered where appropriate.
• Figures must be sufficiently clear and readable.
• Authors should ensure that all graphical material is original or properly licensed.

11. References and Citation Style

All references cited in the manuscript should be publicly accessible published works whenever applicable and should be presented consistently according to the bibliographic style specified by IJIEOR.

11.1 In-Text Citations

References should be cited in the text using sequential numbers in square brackets. For example: [1], [2], or [3–5].

Reference numbers should follow the order in which references first appear in the manuscript. The same reference should retain the same number throughout the manuscript.

11.2 Reference List

The reference list should be prepared according to the APA-based bibliographic format adopted by IJIEOR, using the formatting and examples provided in the official IJIEOR manuscript template.

The APA-based format refers to the bibliographic presentation of the reference entries, while IJIEOR uses a numbered citation system for references within the text.

11.3 Reference Consistency

Authors should ensure that every reference cited in the text appears in the reference list and that every reference listed is cited in the manuscript.

Authors are strongly encouraged to provide DOI information whenever available and to provide URLs for online references where appropriate.

11.4 Examples

Authors should follow the detailed examples provided in the official IJIEOR manuscript template for journal articles, books, conference papers, theses, technical reports, websites, and other reference types.

12. Research Data and Reproducibility

Authors should provide sufficient methodological and analytical information to allow qualified researchers to understand and assess the work.

Where appropriate and subject to ethical, legal, privacy, confidentiality, or contractual restrictions, authors are encouraged to make relevant datasets, codes, algorithms, models, or supplementary materials available.

13. Plagiarism and Similarity Checking

IJIEOR is committed to maintaining high standards of academic integrity. Submitted manuscripts may be checked for plagiarism, text similarity, duplicate publication, and other forms of inappropriate overlap.

The journal uses iThenticate or an equivalent similarity-detection system as part of its editorial quality-control procedures.

Similarity reports are evaluated by the editorial team in context. A similarity percentage by itself does not determine whether plagiarism has occurred, since legitimate quotations, references, standard terminology, and other unavoidable similarities may contribute to a similarity score.

Where plagiarism, substantial unattributed overlap, duplicate publication, or other forms of academic misconduct are identified, the journal may take appropriate action in accordance with its Publication Ethics and Research Integrity policies.

14. Authorship and Author Information

All listed authors should have made a substantial contribution to the research and should approve the final version of the manuscript.

Authors should carefully verify their names, affiliations, email addresses, ORCID identifiers, and order of authorship before final publication.

15. Research Ethics

Authors must comply with applicable ethical standards and regulations relevant to their research. Where research involves human participants, animals, personal data, confidential information, or other regulated activities, appropriate ethical approval and informed consent should be obtained where required.

Any relevant ethical approval, consent, funding, data availability, and conflict-of-interest information should be disclosed in the manuscript where applicable.

16. Conflict of Interest

Authors should disclose any financial, professional, institutional, or personal relationships that could reasonably be perceived as influencing the research or its interpretation.

Where no conflict exists, authors may state that there is no conflict of interest to declare.

17. Funding

All sources of financial support for the research should be disclosed. The role of the funding organization, if any, in study design, data collection, analysis, interpretation, manuscript preparation, or publication decisions should be stated where applicable.

18. Acknowledgments

Acknowledgments should be included after the conclusion and before any appendices or references. They may include contributions that do not qualify for authorship, institutional support, technical assistance, or funding acknowledgments.

19. Copyright and License

IJIEOR applies the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0) license to published works. Under this license, authors retain copyright ownership while allowing others to share and reuse the work in accordance with the license terms and with appropriate attribution.

20. Peer Review

Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial assessment are normally evaluated through a double-blind peer-review process by at least two independent reviewers with appropriate expertise.

The final editorial decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief or a designated editor. Possible decisions include:

• Accept
• Minor Revision
• Major Revision
• Reject

Manuscripts should be submitted electronically through the IJIEOR online submission system.

23. Editorial Screening and Review Timeline

All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial assessment before external peer review. The journal aims to complete the initial editorial screening within approximately two weeks.

Manuscripts that pass the initial assessment are normally sent to at least two independent reviewers. The journal aims to complete the initial external peer-review process within approximately four weeks, although the actual timeframe may vary depending on reviewer availability, revision requirements, and other circumstances.

24. Open Access

IJIEOR is an open-access journal. Published articles are made available to readers without subscription barriers, subject to the applicable copyright and licensing terms.

25. Article Processing Charges

Information concerning article processing charges and publication fees is provided through the journal's official website and submission information. Authors should review the applicable charges before submission.

26. Indexing and Abstracting

Information concerning the databases, services, and platforms in which IJIEOR is indexed or listed is available on the official Indexing and Abstracting page.

28. Privacy

Names, email addresses, and other personal information submitted through the journal's online system are used only for the stated purposes of journal administration, editorial processing, peer review, publication, and communication related to the journal. Such information is not made available for unrelated purposes.

29. Publication Ethics

IJIEOR follows recognized principles of ethical scholarly publishing. Authors, editors, and reviewers are expected to comply with the journal's policies concerning research integrity, plagiarism, authorship, conflicts of interest, peer review, corrections, retractions, and other publication-ethics matters.
